A Denver doctor was sentenced Tuesday to 23 years in federal prison for secretly filming children during medical exams while they were undressed.
Dr. Justin Neisler, 32, was also sentenced to ten years of supervised release following his prison term, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Colorado. Neisler pleaded guilty in January to production of child pornography.
On Nov. 2, 2018, Colorado Springs police received a tip that child pornography was being distributed to social media accounts. Investigators were able to connect the accounts to Neisler, the release said.
On March 13, 2019, authorities executed a search warrant at Neisler’s home. His cell phone and other electronic media were seized and found to have about 6,600 photos and 1,725 videos of child pornography.
Investigators determined that some of Neisler’s medical exams of young boys were secretly recorded using a Spy Pen Camera and his iPhone.
Neisler worked at St. Anthony North Family Medicine – 84th clinic in Westminster. Centura Health fired Neisler from his family residency after his arrest.
The videos made by Neisler were not distributed to others, according to the release. Neisler’s Colorado medical license was forfeited following his sentencing hearing.
“This sentence is wholly appropriate in light of the horrific acts committed by the one person besides a parent that a child is told to trust unquestionably,” said U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn said in the release. “Our hope is that the sentence gives his victims and their parents some sense of closure and allows them to move forward with their lives.”
Neisler was ordered to pay $10,100 to the court and into funds set up to assist victims of child exploitation crimes.
