UK temperatures could soar this month due to ‘heat blasts from France and Spain’
Weather forecasters say temperatures in the UK could soar later this month due to "plumes of heat" from France and Spain.
Conditions have been a mixed bag so far in May. On Monday (May 8) 21.6C was recorded in Helens Bay, Northern Ireland, which is the hottest temperature the UK has seen this year.
However, King Charles' Coronation weekend also saw thunderstorms and hail in some parts of the country.

Forecasters have again warned of thunderstorms and flooding this week.
Luckily, things look to be improving as this month progresses.
According to Netweather forecaster Ian Simpson, temperatures could be "2C above the long-term normal in some places" between May 22 and May 28.
Conditions will be particularly "hot for the time of year over most of France and Spain", which could have a knock on effect for people in the south of the UK.
"[It] means that one or two short-lived plumes of heat are possible in the south," he said.
He added: "Sunshine totals are likely to be below average in southern Britain and in parts of eastern England, but mostly above normal in most parts of Scotland and northern England."
In its forecast for May 24 to June 7, the Met Office suggested these conditions won't necessarily last into next month.
It said: "Signals suggest high pressure dominating at first, bringing a fair amount of dry and bright weather, but turning more generally unsettled later in the period, with a greater chance of low pressure being the dominant feature.
"Perhaps greater confidence, relatively, can be found in temperatures being generally near to or a little above average through this period."
