Amazon founder and rocket man Jeff Bezos could be the first person to marry in space after he announcing his engagement to his lover who has him smitten like a 'horny teen'.

The Blue Origin boss has been locked in a personal space race with fellow billionaires Elon Musk and Richard Branson, but took time out to get down on one knee to Emmy Award winning journalist Lauren Sanchez, 53.

Lauren has been seen flashing a giant diamond ring on her wedding finger after canoodling on board the £400million 417ft Koru yacht with the 59-year-old all weekend.

A witness who saw them on the eye-popping vessel described them as behaving like "horny teenagers". They added: "They were all over each other."

The newly-engaged couple are sailing off the coast of Cannes while the glamorous film festival takes place.

And now speculation has shifted to where the couple will tie the knot, be that on the aforementioned vessel, in one of Bezos' sprawling properties or even in space.

In 2021 the billionaire took off from a desert site in West Texas on his Blue Origon craft, a voyage lasting just over 10 minutes to the edge of space.

The journey passed off without incident, with the Amazon founder and three other astronauts reaching the the so-called Karman line.

The crew could be heard telling the control room the trip was "amazing", with shouting and whooping also audible.

Rival businessman Branson was blasted to the edge of space alongside three crewmates in July 2021, a flight that came less than two weeks before Bezos'.

And Elon Musk is perhaps the most prolific of the billionaire space cadets, funneling money into his SpaceX project.

Celebrations may be audible once more if Bezos pulls out all the stops to wed his second wife way above the clouds.

Another declaration of love comes in the form of the fact that the wooden carved figure on the prow of Bezos' boat looks suspiciously like his new lover.

It comes four years after the couple's romance became public in 2019.

Their relationship has since seen them work together on projects, such as the Bezos Earth Fund.

The initiative – launched in 2020 – was established to "fight climate change and protect nature".

Its founder Jeff is the executive chair, whilst his partner Lauren acts as vice chair.

Sanchez, who was born in the same hospital as Bezos in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a third-generation Mexican-American.

"We came from nothing. I used to sleep in the back of my grandmother's car when she would go cleaning houses, and I've been fortunate enough to have a career," she said in 2017.
