Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Sussex brand in ‘turmoil’, royal expert claims

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's brand could be in "turmoil" after parting ways with Spotify, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex split from streaming giant Spotify as they produced just one series after signing a rumoured £15million deal.

But one royal expert believes the pair has started to see their "empire" begin to crumble, with Daniela Elser claiming the pair could be in "turmoil" in a recent column for

Archetypes, the Spotify podcast which Meghan Markle produced for Spotify, lasted 12 episodes and, according to Elser, was lacking in some places.

She wrote: "Despite Harry being a part of the deal, the duke never once managed to actually release a single program of his own, instead following in the centuries of tradition of royal spares being better for combining both idleness and a pervading aura of malcontent.

"Within a hot minute of the streamer confirming they had consciously uncoupled from the Sussexes, Spotify’s Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation Bill Simmons decided to unleash on the couple, calling them 'f***king grifters'."

Elser went on to claim that Netflix, who signed a deal with the former royal pair rumoured to be worth around £80m, could also pull the plug.

An unnamed source has claimed the streaming giant could look to not renew their contract with the Duke and Duchess.

The source said: "The feeling is that the lemon has been fully squeezed. The big bucks Harry and Meghan signed on for do not exist today."

Elser also reported the Sussexes were "prepared to see out their contractual obligations with Netflix".

She later summarised the pair's situation, writing: "There have been many moments when things looked dicey for Harry and Meghan, but this would have to be one of the worst, if not the worst, turns of fate for the duo since they hightailed it out of the UK."

It comes as the Daily Star reported Meghan and Harry could be set to sign a major deal with Dior as the pair were "on a war footing".
